Time Travelin’
We time traveled to the early 1800s on Tuesday. It wasn’t so much that we teleported, accidentally ripped a hole in the time/space continuum, or hit 88mph in a DeLorean. It was more like we were a Kansas farm girl and her little dog living with her aunt and uncle, and there had been a great storm with strong violent winds and branches strewn about, outdoor furniture upended, and large trees snapped and fallen…
Fun fact: Apparently 10 tornados touched down in the Chicago area Monday night. The Willis, Hancock, and trump towers all got lit up by lightning at the same time.
So to be clear, what I’m saying is… we had no power, no ‘lectricity. It was like we were from the 1800s; specifically the early part, not the Edison part.
But I didn’t know that at first.
In the gray greasy light of the early morning I could see that the ceiling fan in our bedroom — which is permanently on — was off. So was the projection clock that glows red on the ceiling above Pam’s side of the bed. And the slight hum of the vents blowing cold air was silent. The room was noticeably warm and still.
Letting everyone to continue to sleep, I heroically went outside to reset the big…
