This One’s For You, Kid

Ok, a little bit of a rant here. A few weeks ago I saw a video of some dude shooting up a pack of beer. It was on my phone, I didn’t look too closely. Dude appeared to be a rando dumbass loser. Of course there’s lots of rando dumbass losers shooting up things in this country, but because it was a pack of beer I figured someone got triggered by something and went on with my day. Turns out dude was Kid Rock, who actually IS a rando dumbass loser.

But what was it that made him soooo mad?

Budweiser sent a pack of Bud Light to Dylan Mulvaney; a transgender woman, activist, and TikTok star. It wasn’t just a pack of Bud Light. It was a unique commemorative pack that featured her face — not for sale anywhere. It was presented to her as gift for reaching a milestone in which she completed a year of her transition. That’s it. That’s all that happened.

I like to think of myself as a student of pop culture, but Dylan Mulvaney was not on my radar. But now, thanks to Kid Rock, she is. Ironically, Kid Rock wasn’t on my radar either, although I remember liking that one song from 1999 where it went ‘up jump the boogie…’
