Ev’rybody So Mad

We watched the Super Bowl and I thought it was great. A really good game in which both teams were evenly matched. I actually thought the 49ers were the stronger team, but it just didn’t go their way and I felt bad for them at the end. I did want the Chiefs, though, because I’m a Midwesterner.

Of course, I didn’t have much invested in the whole thing. I hadn’t watched all year. I blame my kids mostly, but I carry my own baggage on how the NFL deals with domestic violence and CTE, not to mention their awful mishandling of Colin Kaepernick.

Grudgers gonna grudge…

But I enjoy a spectacle as much as the next guy. Who doesn’t love pulpy storylines, blockbuster movie teasers, multimillion dollar ad buys for Jesus, glitz, glamour, singing, national pageantry, fighter jets, etc…

At the last minute I invited our neighbors over. They have two young girls. We watched, noshed, and then they left after the fourth quarter. (School night.) I told them the next day that in overtime Mahomes threw a pass to Taylor Swift and she won the game for the Chiefs. I kept a straight face and I take full responsibility for that. That’s on me.
