SPHERE AND LOATHING

Before I left for Vegas my wife said, “Make good decisions.” She said it with a smile and a laugh. But then a moment passed and she pointed at my computer, “Hey, what’s your password again?”

I’m at the Dead & Company shows this weekend at the Sphere. I’m here with some of my oldest friends. Well, no, I have older friends. These are the ones I’ve known the longest. Ab since the first grade. Dave since the second. We’ve been listening to the Dead since the 80s, right around the end of high school/beginning of college.

We all flew in from different parts of the country. Maryland, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, and California. We’re sharing two connecting rooms at the SpringHill Marriott, near the end of the strip just past the Westgate convention center. Ed has Bonvoy points so he got us upgraded. We each have a bed. Bill got here last so he gets the trundle. Sorry, Bill.

Vegas is hot, but it’s a dry heat so it’s not soul crushing. Still, you’ll want to stick to the shade and walk through the casinos and convention centers to glom onto the A/C if you can.

The A/C is fierce, here. Arctic. My running bit as soon as we step inside anywhere…
