It’s been SKATING SKATING SKATING these last couple weeks. And this last week was even worse. Nola was skating two/three times a day with me running dinners over to the rink in the evenings. We even took her out of school early a couple days so she could get to practice on time. Crazypants!
But it finally all culminated this past weekend with the Ice Show.
What’s an Ice Show? I think it’s somewhere between a beauty pageant and hockey. There’s a lot of sparkly costumes, hair glitter, and raw athleticism all on vivid display. It’s three hours long, cold, and hurts your butt. I’ve been to other skating centers, specifically Evanston, where the stands are #nextlevel. The bleachers are made up of seats, actual seats, which are heated and ergonomic. They’re curved. They hold your butt instead of pushing it back against gravity. I am VERY SERIOUSLY considering the purchase of a pair of cushy travel seats for next time. I am THAT AGE now...

The refrigerated atmosphere doesn’t help your muscles and bones either. Now that I think about it, it was torture.
