Perfect Timing
Life is about showing up, but also timing…
I’m walking with Bruce this morning. We’re about to pass the bakery. They must not open till 8 because there’s a large family waiting in front. Maybe it’s an extended family, or two families. There are several kids all about 8–12. Everyone is excited for the bakery to open.
“Are you so excited, Amy,” asks one of the moms.
“So excited,” says the 12yo with the ponytail who’s actually jumping up and down.
The adults laugh. Some of the other kids are jumping, too. Everyone is happy.
I look in the window. There are cakes and pies and cookies.
“They’re gonna open any minute,” says one of the dads.
“I know,” says the 12 yo girl.
I’m almost to the front door. I see someone inside with an apron reaching up to the lock.
“Oh, look,” says another dad. “They’re about to open up!”
“Are you gonna be the first to go inside,” says the original mom to the 12 yo girl.
The girl laughs and nods. She’s bouncing up and down, giddy.
I don’t know anything about this bakery. Maybe they have a special on chocolate-dipped kittens today?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
