Ella has started studying for her Bat Mitzvah. Here in the OP, parents take the group class with their kids — which is great because there are SO MANY things I forgot or don’t know — things that are actually interesting now that I’m older.
But I already digress.
In the first class we were asked to draw a picture that represented our family. In addition to our stick figure selves, we included bikes, ice cream, music notes, iPads, holiday celebrations (both secular and non), swimming, books, pizza, our car, the cat, etc. It occurred to me later that the one thing we forgot to put in were vacuum lines. (Or carpet lines — whatever you call them.) I’m not saying we always have vacuum lines around the house (because we don’t), but we prize them. When Phoebe’s parents recently came to visit (after almost two years), no one was allowed downstairs until they arrived; unless it was an emergency — like checking the cat litter or seeing if there was any more frozen pizza. However, as spill came to clean, I had to get paper towels. So I was careful to go along the wall around the far end of the couch and jump from the bookcase to the hall where it’s darker and you can’t really see the nap of the carpet.
