I, Me, Melamine
As summer slips slow motion into fall and all the leaves start to change color and litter the ground, I’ve come to realize that I wait WAY too long to put away all the yard stuff. The toys, the furniture, the ceramic planters. The hose. By the time I accept reality and responsibility, there’s frost and mud and rotting leaves. It’s a mess. Not sure why I do that. Procrastination? Denial? Global warming?
So I came up with the C’MON DUDE BEFORE IT SNOWS plan — which is basically just me being aware and making time when the weather clears.
Kyle has a play set, one of those Step 2 monstrosities that can’t fit through a doorway unless you take it apart. It’s the All Around Playtime Patio™. It’s features a grill with a canopy on top that protects from the sun and it has some sand and water play areas. It’s cool. He’s probably outgrown it, but I’ve seen him playing in it with the little kids from next door. I have an actual house and a Weber Genesis so it’s no big deal to me, but I can see where it’s fun.
Over the course of the summer we do a good job keeping it clean. As we get into fall, not so much. It’s been raining pumas and wolves and the temperature has been staying cool so the sand and water features have become… swampy. These bins are only two inches deep, but each time I walk past them I can’t not notice that I’m unable to see the bottom. I think these things…
