HGTV is the new MTV, right? We all understand that, yes?

HGTV is the new cool. It’s where we see function meet design meet #lifegoals. We don’t want to be rock stars anymore. We want farm sinks, clean lines, and bathroom tile that makes a statement. We want custom cabinets and the ability to mix metal finishes without taking anything away from the matte paint on the walls or the vertical stripes of the restored vintage chaise. Solid core doors are lit, yo! Amirite?!

Fixer Upper was the gateway drug, but Phoebe is currently strung out on Off The Grid On The Beach. The premise is that people just want to get away from it all and stare at the sea. I’m down with that, but it seems an Airbnb for a couple weeks would be a better solution.

Anyhoo they take planes, smaller planes, boats, sea kayaks, ATVs, and horseback to get to these remote remote places that are outfitted with solar panels and desalinization stations. Cool, right? You can even get your own island. Some of the homes are BEAUTIFUL, especially for the persons who can start a fire with piles of money. Some are basically your house with sand instead of grass. And some are just shelters, like, ‘Enjoy showering outside!’ and ‘Yes, that hut over there would be for your guests.’

Phoebe and I have LOTS of questions:
